Meta has launched a test version of its “Instagram for TV” app on Amazon Fire TV devices in the US. Trial Features and Limitations
The test is currently available only to US users and supports English content exclusively. Users can browse Instagram Reels on Fire TV in a vertical video format similar to the mobile app. Meta highlights easy remote control navigation, including like, comment, and share options. Long-form videos and photo feeds are not yet supported.
Shift from IGTV
This launch signals a replacement for Meta’s discontinued IGTV app, which focused on long-form videos and shut down in 2022. The emphasis now is on short-video trends driven by Reels’ success.
